Norisring F3 Euro Series: Second victory for Christian Vietoris

Gravity driver Christian Vietoris enjoyed his second win of the year in F3 Euro Series, the 20 year old German dominating Sunday's race at the Norisring beating Jean Karl Vernay and Jules Bianchi
Once again, qualifying was held in changing conditions, competitors starting the session on a wet track before the 2.3 kilometers long circuit around the concrete stadium in Nuremberg progressively dried out. Christian ended up 13th in this session having a long way to go to fulfill his requirements.
Saturday's race was a rather confusing affair as proceedings were first interrupted by a mass collision which eliminated five drivers before the race was finally red flagged on lap 19 when heavy rain hit the track. Christian Vietoris put in a strong drive, moving up through the field up to 6th position.
Sunday's action packed race was even more chaotic, marked by three safety car periods. Early on, pole-sitter Sam Bird led the field before a confrontation with compatriot Alexander Sims led to his retirement. Christian then took the lead from Spaniard Roberto Mehri, and defended his position at the front from Vernay for most of the race. In the end, he collected his second consecutive Sunday F3 Euro Series win: "It feels nice to win but I hope we'll soon be in a position to win on Saturday's also," joked the Gravity driver. "Initially, I benefited from the collision of my two team-mates Alexander Sims and Sam Bird. Later on, it was important to pull a gap over Jean Karl and Jules, because the two of them were very quick."
In the championship rankings Christian is now second, 9 points behind current leader Jules Bianchi.
