Gravity driver Christian Vietoris failed to close the gap on series leader Jules Bianchi in the 15th and 16th rounds of the F3 Euro Series held over the weekend in Barcelona. The young German remains nevertheless in contention although the championship is now Bianchi's to lose.

Qualifying at the 2.977 kilometres long Circuit de Catalunya was as competitive  as ever with Bianchi claiming pole and Vietoris ending the thrilling session in 5th position. On Saturday, Bianchi boosted his title hopes with a dominant lights-to-flag win while Vietoris finished 6th.  In Sunday's event, the two title contenders crossed the checkered flag 4th and 5th, the Mücke Motorsport driver just edging out his ART Grand Prix rival.

With four more rounds to go, at Dijon and Hockenheim, Bianchi leads the junior series with 87 points with Vietoris in second place totalling 64 points. "As long as there's a mathematical chance to beat Jules, I'll keep on fighting," concluded Christian Vietoris after the Spanish weekend.
